Hi! I am the editor of this blog and this will be my 3rd ASIST conference. I attended my first ASIST as a student volunteer in 2003, and if you are a student looking for a dynamic conference experience that will rouse every critical thinking fiber of your being, I highly recommend ASIST. Becoming a ASIST Annual student volunteer is also an excellent way take in a conference without financial hardship. They typically promote this option via the student chapters a few months in advance so keep this in mind for next year. In the meantime, grab our feed and read and comment often. There is a group at UNC-Chapel Hill doing a wiki that will be set up to closely follow the conference program. I’ll put the url up as soon as I get it.
I am a librarian at a private liberal arts college in the Northeast. I am looking forward to Patty Maies’ keynote, the tracks on information and online searching behaviors as well as some of the sessions on policy issues and medical information. Librarians always need to know why people do things a certain way…I hope this session signifies a shift at ASIST Annual towards the inclusion of more practitioner-oriented discussions. See you in Charlotte.

Hi All- I thought I would jump in on the conference blog to introduce myself. This will be my second ASIS&T annual meeting and I’m really excited to be attending. Right now I’m researching less expensive hotels in easy commuting range and with free internet. If there’s some interest I’ll post my results.
I’m a librarian in a special library belonging to a research lab. I work with scientists, engineers, and mathematicians. I’m also a PhD student at the University of Maryland. Hope to see you all around!

This year, ASIST annual meeting attendees will have a conference blog to help keep up with Annual Meeting activities and a place to share impressions of the panel sessions, speakers and experiences with the profession at large. Help us extend the synergy beyond the Annual Meeting by becoming a Meeting blogger!!! If you plan to attend any of the pre-conference workshops, the ICKM conference or Annual meeting and are interested in chronicling this year’s activities, visit http://www.neasist.org/annual/blog/?page_id=4 or use click on the Contact button to let us know of your interest and availability.
Blogging experience is welcome, but not required. If you have yet to test out the blogosphere, here’s your chance. First-time meeting attendee? Even better!!
