International Calendar of Information Science Conferences

The New England and European chapters of ASIST (NEASIST & ASIST/EC) have joined with the International Information Issues SIG (SIG/III) to create the International Calendar of Information Science Conferences (http://icisc.neasist.org/). The calendar lists dates, locations and names of events around the world of interest to information scientists and related professionals, and includes an RSS feed and a static web page “Quick Calendar” for easy reference.

I believe one of Nick Belkin’s promises last year was to not have chicken. Sure enough, we had salmon. The jury’s out on that; however, the desert was fabulous. Don’t you wish you were here.

In more serious terms, Marcia Bates gave a great speech on women in academe. I wish I had tried to transcribe it.

I do want to say thank you, Marcia, and others who blazed trails and who are still working to bring attention to the problems.
