A full day of pre-conf workshops today, from classification research and ethnography to the effectiveness of blogs and wikis as conference communication tools (ahem, I’m participating in this one from 2-5pm. Another first-timer checking in. My name is Amelia Abreu, and I’m currently an Archivist/ History Subject Specialist at University of Houston Libraries. I’m interested in digital libraries, in particular issues of access and description, so there’s a lot I’m looking forward to in the next few days. As a veteran of math archives and a bit of a history of science hobbyist, I am looking forward to Barabási’s address as well.
Finally, as a native Texan and a former Austinite, I am more than happy to point new arrivals towards the best migas, mole and barbecue in town.
