Greetings ASIS&T colleagues,
In light of the recent passing of ASIS&T legend James M. Cretsos, and at the suggestion of Michel Menou and Eugene Garfield, a memorial wiki has been established to honour all of our departed ASIS&T colleagues.
It is hoped that this wiki will provide an easy and accessible place for those who knew former colleagues to share their memories and reflections with those of us who never had the chance and to celebrate the ways in which they touched so many lives with their wisdom and good humour.
You can view the reflections here:
http://asistmemorial.pbwiki.com/
I encourage you to add your own reflections (solemn, humorous, etc.) - anyone can add their thoughts, but you will need a password (please contact me directly - caryn.anderson@simmons.edu)
In respect and honour of those who have preceded me,
Caryn

Greetings to our globally-minded & charitable ASIS&T colleagues,
It’s the time of year when the SIG-III Infoshare program would like to
ask for your generous gift donations for the Silent Auction at the
International Reception on Monday night of the Annual Meeting (6th).
Your support of Infoshare through the funds your gifts generate during
the Silent Auction is highly appreciated by new members all around the
world. InfoShare provides memberships to individuals from countries
where the ASIS&T member fees are a financial burden.
To support you during this celebration of charity and help you to pick
up a nice and yet affordable gift, Infoshare encourages you to think
of the types of gifts your ASIS&T friends would want to bid on. This
might be wine or art or jewelry or clothing or a weekend at your home
at the lake. If you are a knitter (or crochet etc.), please join the
SIG-KNIT group who are making items especially for the auction!
Collection boxes will be provided at the registration desk or
you can contact us (InfoShare Officers) at the e-mails below if you
will not be attending but would still like to contribute an auction
item.
Thank you very much and see you soon!

Hey y’all. I’ll be attending the meeting this year but sort of on a drive-by schedule. I’ll arrive in Austin about noon on Sunday and leave Wednesday evening. I’ll plan to have my digital camera and laptop so hopefully I’ll be able to blog here and on my personal blog. I’m looking forward to SIGKNIT, too. See you in Austin!

Bienvenidos, Bienvenue, Huan Ying, Shalom, Bem-Vindo, Karibu, Willkommen, Assalam-o-alaikum, Välkommen, Youkoso, Dobro pozhalovat, Benvenuti, Swaagatam, Usuhoshipsiyo, and of course while in Austin…Hey Y’All!! We hope you will check the blog often for reportings from this year’s conference. To browse the blog, just click on any of the keywords to the left. This year, the blog’s organization will be less hierarchical. The keywords or tags are there to make it easier for you to find a topic posted. The cluster of tags is called a tag cloud and you will notice that the more often a tag is used, the larger and darker it will appear in the cluster. This technology has been associated with Web 2.0, a theme to be explored at the 2007 ASIST Annual Meeting in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
